Hamburg, NY – For the third time this season, Adam Weaver (Stow, OH/Archbishop Hoban) has been named the United Volleyball Conference’s Rookie of the Week March 21.
During the three games played last week, Weaver hit .458 (50 kills with only 12 errors in 83 attempts) at the net. His most powerful game was against Eastern Mennonite University March 19th when he stroked 17 kills in 19 attempts (.789) in the Hawks 4-set loss. One night earlier, against the 9th ranked AVCA Medaille College, the 6’3” Outside Hitter earned 21 kills in 42 attempts (.405) while helping defensively with 8 digs. Due to an ankle injury mid-season, Weaver was nominated for consideration only six of the nine weeks the UVC has been honoring players.
Hilbert winds down their season March 23 when they travel to Elmira College. Currently Weaver leads the Hawks (1-23, 0-9) with 3.90 kills per set with .290 hitting. He is the team leader in points (255) earned although he played 22 fewer sets than his team mates.
