Buffalo, NY – The Hilbert men’s basketball team traveled to cross-town rival Medaille College January 5 after a 2 week hiatus. The holiday break didn’t seem to hurt the Hawks as they led for most of the first half, taking a 31-27 advantage into the locker room. Hilbert held their lead for the first five minutes into the second half before the Mavericks broke away with the 77-62 home court victory. Hilbert falls to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in AMCC standings, as the Mavericks step up to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
Starting guards, sophomore Dan McFarland (Lancaster, NY/St. Mary’s) and first year, CJ Hodge (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) each put up 13 points for Hilbert. McFarland grabbed 12 rebounds and went 2-3 outside the arc, while Hodge went 5-6 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Chris Parrott (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) added 10 points, 17 rebounds and swatted 3 shots.
Hilbert hosts an AMCC weekend double-header against Franciscan University of Steubenville on Saturday January 8th and Penn State Altoona on Sunday, January 9th. Both matchups begin at 3pm.
