Hawks Dominate in Season Opener

Hamburg, N.Y. – The Hawks dominated the Express in their season opener at Wells College on Wednesday, September 1st in their 2-0 victory. Senior Emily Schilling (Holland, N.Y./Holland) opened the scoring in the first half at 38:21 with the assist from freshmen forward, Sarah Schmidt (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit). Junior All-Conference midfielder, Alyssa Hulbert (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) added the unassisted game clincher only three minutes in to the second half. The Hawks controlled play by out shooting the Express (21-6) and held an advantage in corner kicks (11-2). Junior goalkeeper Mary Zinni (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) finished with four saves for her first shutout.
Hilbert travels to Alfred University and faces Potsdam on September 4th in the first round of the Alfred Classic this weekend. The Hawks home opener is against Clarkson University on Saturday, September 11th at 1pm. The following day, they host Chatham on Sunday, September 12th at 1 pm.
