Hamburg, NY: The Hilbert baseball team dropped two games to Penn State Behrend on Tuesday afternoon. Behrend’s offense was on a roll as the Lions generated 15 runs in each game to improve their conference record to 8-2. The losses drop Hilbert’s record to 2-6 in the AMCC.
Strong pitching by Behrend’s Michael Moyer led the Lions over the Hawks in game one as his stellar performance from the mound only allowed five hits in five innings pitched. Aaron Lawrence (Fishkill, NY/ FCC), Frank Simmeth
(Cheektowaga, NY/ St. Mary’s), James Pernick (Tonawanda, NY/ St. Joe’s Collegiate Inst.), Jake Simonick (Blasdell, NY/ Orchard Park) and Ed Heffron (Williamsville, NY/ Cardinal O’Hara) {in photo to right} tallied the hits for the Hawks.
Behrend continued their slugfest in game two as they went on to defeat Hilbert 15-2. Matt Millitello (Depew, NY/ Lancaster) led the Hawk’s offense going 2-for-3 and scoring one run. Lawrence and freshman Joe Hart (Eden, NY/ Eden) earned Hilbert’s two RBI on the day while senior Dave Cunningham (Cheektowaga, NY/ Maryvale) would round out the two run scoring effort by the Hawks.
Hilbert will face non conference opponent Cazenovia College on Friday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m.
