HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College’s men’s volleyball team hosted the 15th ranked team in Division III volleyball on February 3rd.  Medaille College, heading into their second week of national rankings, hit the ball extremely well (.357) over the 4 sets played taking the NECVA match from Hilbert in scores of 30-26, 21-30, 30-18, 30-22. This was the second meeting for the two clubs this season and this match was much more competitive than the first face-off.  During Coach Walker's watch, this was the first time the Hawks took a set from Medaille.

Junior RJ Sykora (Stow, OH/Munroe Falls) led the Hawks with 13 kills, 8 digs and 2 solo blocks followed closely by junior Dan Wolfe (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) with 11 kills and 12 digs. The Hawks move to 1-9 and 0-2 in the Western Division. Medaille continues its winning streak and stands at 7-2 and 3-0 in NECVA play.

Sophomore Vince Amico (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) once again distributed the ball among the hitters earning 33 of the 34 assists tallied. As a team, the Hawks were credited with 10 blocks against the hard hitting Mavericks, most of those occurred during the second set which Hilbert won 30-21.
Hilbert has a week off from competition until Tuesday, February 9th when they host Western Division D’Youville College at 7 pm.
