Kusmierz’s area of specialization focuses on marriage and family issues, including communication, parenting skills, family values, and the dynamics of family stress. She can also address adolescent development and family and peer relationships during this stage. Related is her interest in interpersonal communication and associated techniques, such as listening, observing, paraphrasing and perception checking. A member of the National Association of Social Workers, Kusmierz is an expert on loss and grief, particularly approaches to dealing with grief and life-threatening illness, as well as medical, legal and other related areas.
