Bio:  With over 25 years of experience in university advancement and athletic administration, Fort is currently in his second year at Hilbert College as Vice President for Institutional Advancement.  As member of Hilbert’s senior leadership team, Fort directs all aspects of Hilbert’s institutional advancement efforts.  In this role, Fort coordinates all development, alumni and affinity activities for the institution, including major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, alumni relations and communications, and both corporate and foundation relations.  In addition, Fort coordinates the college’s government relations program.
 
Prior to Hilbert, Fort spent five years at DePaul University in Chicago as an assistant vice president where he developed comprehensive initiatives that were instrumental in securing over $20 million dollars in funding at the institution to support the university’s successful $250 million comprehensive capital campaign (Many Dreams, One Mission, The Campaign for DePaul University). Fort supervised corporate relations, central major giving, and strategic planning for the Office of Advancement, DePaul’s President’s Club as well as the division’s prospect development initiative.  Fort also serves as a major gift officer and campaign director for Catholic Initiatives.
 
Fort spent over 20 years as an NCAA Division I athletic administrator with tenures at Florida International University, Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech.  Currently, Fort serves as a senior consultant for Collegiate Consulting in Atlanta, Georgia where he specializing in NCAA re-classification and athletic external affairs.
 
A 1987 graduate of Austin College, he served four years as the sports information director as a student and recently served a three-year term on the Austin College Alumni Board and the Osgood Center in Washington, D.C.  Ever active in the community, Fort currently serves as a trustee for the Irish Classical Theatre Company and is a member of the Rotary Club of Buffalo.  Fort is married to women’s college basketball coach, Nicci Hays.  Hays-Fort currently serves as the head women’s basketball coach at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.
