Meet the Staff
Dr. Tara Jabbaar-Gyambrah, Director
In September of 2009, Dr. Tara Jabbaar-Gyambrah began working as the Director of Multicultural Affairs at Hilbert College. She has been working in higher education for over 8 years and holds a doctoral degree in American Studies specializing in Women’s Studies from the University at Buffalo. In addition to this, she has a background in Sociology and African American Studies and has taught several courses in women studies, popular culture, family and media studies.
In her current role, Dr. Jabbaar-Gyambrah manages the day-to-day office operations, serves as a diversity consultant for the campus community, advises the Common Ground Club, and provides academic, cultural, and social support to students. She believes in the concept “it takes a whole village” to ensure the holistic (e.g., academic, social, cultural, etc.) success of students.
Renee Fellinger, Graduate Assistant
Currently, Renee Fellinger is completing her Master’s degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration (HESA) at Buffalo State. She comes to the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) with experience in Student Activities, Orientation & New Student Programming and the National Student Exchange Office. Ms. Fellinger will serve as the graduate assistant for the office, and her duties include but are not limited to: coordinating cultural programs, co-advising the diversity club, managing the social media sites, and providing a supportive environment for students. She believes that “diversity is the art of thinking independently together," Malcolm Forbes. Renee welcomes the opportunity to work with the students at Hilbert College and hopes you stop by to say hi!
Tiffany Burrows, Program Assistant (Work Study)
Tiffany Burrows is majoring in Forensic Science major and aspires to graduate within 3 years with her Bachelor’s degree. She is also active member of the Honors program and has been working for the office since the fall of 2012. Tiffany serves as a program assistant to the director. In this role, she assists with carrying out the administrative and programming activities. Tiffany’s favorite program is cultural awareness week because there are so many different opportunities to learn about diversity.
