Anthony Hodge and Adam Weaver have been named the Hilbert College Co-Student-Athletes of the Month for February, 2013.
Hodge (Brooklyn, NY/Telecommunication Arts & Technology/Clinton Community College/Plattsburg State) led the men’s basketball team to their first regular season AMCC championship with his stellar play in his final season of his career. The 5’8 guard led Hilbert in several categories in the six February games: 37.2 minutes per game, 20.7 points, 3.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game. The Hawks finished the month 5-1 overall with their only loss coming in the semi-final game of the AMCC Final Four, which Hilbert earned the right to host for the first time since joining the league. His most impressive game of the month was against Pitt-Greensburg when he scored 23 points and pulled down a season-high 7 rebounds helping the Hawks retain their share of AMCC title. Hodge was named as an AMCC 1st Team All-Conference member and finished the season averaging 16.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and lead the team with 65 steals (2.5).
Hodge is a Criminal Justice major and carries a cumulative 3.03 GPA
Weaver (Stow, OH/Archbishop Hoban) led the men’s volleyball team with 147 kills and 22 service aces while adding 79 digs and 14 blocks. His 4.20 kills per set, 0.63 aces per set and 2.26 digs per set ranked him nationally early in the season. On the March 3rd NCAA rankings, Weaver sat at #2 in Kills per Set and #17 for Aces per set while ranking in the top 50 in Hitting Percentage (3.02) and Digs per Set. On January 26th, Weaver became Hilbert College’s All-Time Kill Leader and was named as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week on February 4. The following week, the outside hitter was again honored by the AMCC as the Player of the Week, marking the college’s first athlete to ever be honored in back-to-back weeks.
Weaver carries a 3.79 cumulative grade point average majoring in Criminal Justice.
