FORESTVILLE, NY – Senior Pat Brooks mastered the tricky Tri-County Country Club greens with a red-hot putter and earned a third place finish for the Hilbert College men’s golf team September 13 at the Spartan Shootout. His 80 score also became a lifetime low for the Orchard Park native.
Penn State Behrend took the championship (316) in the six-team tournament followed by Medaille (330), Mount Aloysius (332), Pitt Bradford (341), D’Youville (372) and Hilbert, with their lowest score of the season (383).
Matt Gurska (PS Behrend) took top medal honors with a 75, one stroke ahead of teammate Kevin Koerbel. Brooks tied with Medaille’s Matt Keita at 80, with the bulk of the scoring following in tight order.
Hilbert’s other scorers were John Nowak (93), Joe Pernick (101), Dan Grigsby (109) and Gary Gawera (116).
The Hawks next travel to the Lakeview Country Club (North East, PA) to participate in the Penn State Behrend Invitational September 20.
