HAMBURG, NY – D’Youville had a big inning in each game powered the same way, by a grand slam, to take two AMCC games from Hilbert College April 25. The Spartans raced to an 8-0 game one and battled to a 13-5 nightcap win.
Hilbert’s Rachel Collier went three for three in the second game, connecting for two home runs and a double.
Kalie McHenry delivered a grand slam in the top of the third inning which broke open a 3-3 tie. Then, in the bottom of the 5th, Collier connected for her second homerun to cut the difference to 3. D’Youville exploded for five runs the next inning which ended the game.
Shannon Evans opened the day with her grand slam as D’Youville put six runs on the board by the middle of the first inning. Hilbert’s Natalie Whitman earned the Hawks solo hit in the fourth inning. D’Youville’s McHenry fired a one-hitter carrying the Spartans to a 8-0 victory in the opening game.
