Daniel Wolfe from the men’s volleyball team has been named Hilbert College’s Student-Athlete of the Month for March, 2011.
Wolfe (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) started all nine matches in March and in the 30 sets played averaged 1.07 kills, 3.10 assists and 2.10 digs per set. As his final season was coming to an end, his leadership propelled the team to it best volleyball of the year. In the 14 United Volleyball Conference games played in March, Wolfe split time between the primary setter and outside hitter. He led the Hawks with 5.29 assists per set and was second on the team in digs per set (2.86). His game best hitting percentage (.320) was against cross-town rival Medaille College on March 18 when he finished with 9 kills and 10 digs. The Hawks took the Mavericks to a 3-set loss, but it was in a manner that Medaille was not used to. Set scores were 25-23, 27-25, and 25-22. The Rochester native opened the month up at the UVC cross-over weekend in Poughkeepsie passing for 69 assists in the two 3-1 losses to Bard and New Paltz.
Wolfe became the Hilbert College All-Time Kill Leader against Nazareth College (3/8/11) and finishes his career with 560 career kills.
Wolfe will graduate in May with a degree in Criminal Justice.
